Section 6

Scholarship Grant for STCI Faculty and Staff

 

WHEREAS, continuing education is among the best interests of the STCI Faculty and Staff, which is aligned to the commitment of the School to provide quality education;

WHEREAS, there is the desire of its faculty and staff to pursue higher education, but the costs are too high, especially for nearby higher education institutions offering Masters and Doctorate degrees;

WHEREAS, upon the approval of the President of this Institution, and supported by its Board of Trustees, the Scholarship Grant for STCI Faculty and Staff has been offered with the following benefits and privileges:

  • The grantee is entitled to his/her full salary within the duration of the scholarship period;
  • The grantee enjoys full tuition fee throughout the duration of the scholarship;
  • The grantee will also be given thesis or dissertation assistance upon presentation of his/her approved thesis or dissertation proposal;

WHEREAS, the Scholarship Committee hereby seeks to enhance, and ratify as needed, the existing policies pertinent to this internal scholarship grant;

WHEREAS, the following policies have been agreed upon, with their means of verifications and corresponding binding documents. Samples of the binding documents will be exhibited in the Annexes:

Criteria for Selection

1)     Relevance of the Study (Masters or Doctorate degree) and the need of the School

Letter of Intent, Enrolment Form, Letter of Endorsement from Dean/Principal

Memorandum of Agreement (see sample at Annex C); and

Return Service Agreement (see sample at Annex D)

2)     Field of Study of the applicant must fall within the priority area approved by the President or the faculty/staff’s immediate supervisor (e.g. principal, dean)

President’s Letter of Approval; Official Transcript of Records;

Approved Thesis or Dissertation Proposal

3)     He/she must have worked in this Institution for at least four (4) years, with a rating of Very Satisfactory in the year-end evaluation.

He/she can be sent for further studies even without reaching four (4) years if needed by the school.

4)     Possess Good Moral Character and has no case filed in court

Certificate of Good Moral Character from the School employed

5)     Must be physically and mentally fit.

WHEREAS, upon the approval of the scholarship grant for the School’s faculty and staff, there needs to be a scheme by which the scholars be retained in service for the School;

WHEREAS, the faculty grantee shall execute a Memorandum of Agreement and Return Service Agreement with the school (see Annexes C and D). These documents should stipulate the following, among other things:

  1. A return service of two (2) years for every school year of being a grantee;
  1. Being responsible in the prompt submission of progress reports, assessment from the school enrolled, and a copy of grades every end of a semester. These documents should be submitted to the President as a condition by which the scholarship may be renewed for another semester; and

In case the grantee leaves the school prior to completing the number of years indicated in the Return Service Agreement, the grantee will refund the total amount spent by the school for the scholarship, plus an interest of 12% per annum
